Every day you need to learn something. That’s a hard fact. It’s not optional. Business isn’t about living with a single set of rules. It’s about constantly redefining that set and pushing the parameters. What worked for me two months ago isn’t good enough today. It’s exhausting. I know. I’m not going to lie, but learning to adapt is just as important as any other skill in the industry.
What don’t you know? Have you ever thought about that?
I actually think about this quite often. What I know doesn’t really matter. The more pressing issue revolves around what I don’t know – yet. I wake up in the morning and check the news. I sit down and get through my emails and put out any pressing fires and then I figure out what I don’t know for the day.
Has anything happened in the SEO world?
Did Pinterest change the way they handle hashtags?
Are Twitter parties no longer viable for my clients?
What. Don’t. I. Know?
To move your business forward — this is something you must think about everyday. But…often times it can seem overwhelming. I get it.
So what do you do?
TAKE IN AS MUCH AS YOU CAN, KNOWING that you can’t be the best at everything, but you can identify the things you can do better. And then you make a plan to get them done. Once I take in as much as I can, I begin my normal everyday hustle. Writing, pitching, cold calling, regrouping, social engaging. You name it – it happens on auto. However, no matter how much I can get through in a day, there’s always a piece of me that knows that it can be done better, that I can learn more.
So what tools do I use weekly to take in new knowledge?
