Are you a multitasker? Do you feel like you accomplish more in the day when you try to do multiple things at the same time? Well, I have a horrible little secret for you to hear. You aren’t going to like it.
There is a huge problem with multitasking. It simply doesn’t work. I’m not going to start quoting research here to prove my point, but I’ve done enough reading and personal research to know that when you try to do everything, you end up doing nothing. You never reach your full reach or potential because you are trying so hard to juggle everything you have due.
Take a deep breath.
Create a comprehensive to-do list.
Prioritize that to-do list.
Get to work.
Don’t move onto a new topic until the one you are working on is DONE. Period. Multitasking slows you down. When you sit and try to write intros for 5 different stories, you have to account for all of wasted moments you spend shifting gears. It’s just not efficient. The best method is to try to do similar deadlines together. Do you have to photograph several objects for social media? Get them all out, set the lighting up once, and have at it. Do you need to film several videos for YouTube this week? Blow out your hair, create your scripts, and clean your backdrop area before you start to record. Grouping projects is much for effective. Try to shift into this mentality instead of doing many things at the same time. You will be surprise at how much more you can zip through in a day.
