The blog is not dead.
It definitely still is alive and kicking!
A few weeks ago I did a Facebook Live around Blogging and Why You Need to Keep At It. A blogging friend was feeling frustrated, and really felt like she was going to put it aside and be done with it. She wasn’t getting traffic like she used to and felt like she didn’t have enough forward momentum!
My reaction? Please don’t give up – not yet!
Why do I think you need to keep it going? For many of us who started with blogging, our blog is our home base. It’s where we start and then feed off from. For me personally, I blog every single day; it is truly the nucleus to my social media world. I tweet something. I Facebook something. I Instagram something. I pin something. But all of that content that I’m feeding out starts from my blog.
The blog is the center of it all.
Here’s another fact, blogging will continuously change, morph and take different directions throughout the months and years. With the emergence and popularity of different social media channels there is (yes) the chance of less and less eyeballs to blogs, but that shouldn’t be a reason why you quit. Start thinking of different ways to attract attention to your blog. Start thinking of different content that could pull people over. Start working on gorgeous photos and awesome videos.
I love having a blog because it gives me a place to be me. It gives me a chance to share and talk and communicate about things that I love. It lets me work people brands and organizations that I adore and gives me a platform to share. I might not have a million people read my blog daily, but I have readers who come every single day looking to see what I have to say. I love those readers.
Keep blogging because it’s amazing to have an outlet that’s yours.
Keep blogging because it’s a piece of who YOU are on the internet.
Keep blogging because it’s a way to share and communicate.
Keep blogging because you can inspire and motivate.
Keep blogging because you can teach someone something.
Keep blogging because you want to have a home base for your content.
Keep blogging because you never know when you can turn it into a money maker.
Keep blogging because brands and organizations are looking for bloggers to work with.
Keep blogging because you have worked so hard, don’t give up now!
I’m all for the blog (as you can see!).
We’re all in this together!!
